Experts note that the primary reason for the tremendous inflation in Turkey has been bad administration. The people of this country have seen and painfully experienced how the theory “High interest equals high inflation” has inflated the dollar and skyrocketed inflation.
Meanwhile, the peak of the dollar undoubtedly has led to substantial increase in imported products, and fuel, in particular. This, in turn, has reflected on almost all products due to the increases in transportation costs.
Thereafter, the authority in charge of all this has tried to force-feed the public with an unbelievable inflation rate of around 60%, using TUIK (Turkish Statistical Institute) as a tool whereas the actual inflation rate is nowhere below 100% (and over) as expressed by reliable experts.
In the meantime, as a symbolic gesture, the authority made some discounts, just like the recent discount in diesel prices. Seeing this, the public, clinging to hope, is now expecting a reduction in gasoline prices. It’s like giving candy to a child, in a way 🙂
It’s a situation reminiscent of “laugh or cry.” In other words, “give with a spoon, take with a shovel” case. The citizens, seemingly gone mad, have become a part of this theater (essentially both comedy and tragedy, in other words, tragicomic)…
The situation is exactly like that. Just like famous pop singer Cem Karaca once said in a song; “We’re riding towards the apocalypse, on a disaster” (bindik bir alamete gidiyoruz kıyamete).
No, no, still let’s not be unfair please, “God’s willing Turkey is flying”…Let’s not be ungrateful! Even if we are to carry on suffering… 🙂
