A brief look at Edirne

The monumental city of EDIRNE also known as Adrianople is located in Thrace part of the Marmara region inTurkey.

Because it served as the second capital of the Ottoman Empire from 1365 to 1453 prior to conquer of Constantinople (now Istanbul) it has so many features to offer guests visiting this wonderful place.

Edirne also known as “the city of happiness” with its European flavour today, is right next to Turkey’s borders with Greece and Bulgaria.

Edirne is certainly the city where Turkey’s cultural heritage is felt most intensively. It greets visitors entering Turkey with its bridges, historical houses, authentic bazaars, Tunca and Meric rivers, world famous “KIRKPINAR OIL WRESTLING” festival, and the magnificent SELIMIYE MOSQUE complex.

It is definitely worth a visit to experience an unforgettable time in this lovely Turkish city.
