Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer stated that the historical mansions in the city will be restored and repurposed as spaces for cultural, artistic, and tourism activities. Governor Sezer told reporters that significant efforts are being made to uncover the cultural assets in the city.
He emphasized that after these cultural assets are restored, making them functional will add value to Edirne. In this context, he highlighted the importance of restoring the mansions in the Kaleiçi district.
Sezer explained that the goal is to increase cultural, artistic, and tourism activities in the region by restoring the mansions. He said, “We are not only restoring the mansions but also giving them new functions. Restoration work has started on many of the mansions, and teams are identifying those for the second phase of restoration, which will soon begin. Nearly 150 mansions will be restored and given new functions.”
He added, “We will not leave these mansions as they are. We want to turn them into a tourism hub, with workshops, nice cafés, and spaces to showcase our values and gastronomic elements. We are also collaborating with the private sector in this regard.”
