Edirne’s offerings in health tourism can be primarily expressed through modern healthcare services, aesthetic surgery, dental treatments, and general health check-ups. Additionally, the city’s proximity to neighboring countries and its ease of access make it an important potential hub for health tourism.
On January 16, 2025, a comprehensive meeting was held in Edirne by the Turkish Travel Agencies Association (TÜRSAB) to discuss health tourism. The meeting, attended by Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer and other stakeholders, focused on key discussions about the steps that need to be taken to develop health tourism.
The “Health Tourism Information and Development Meeting” addressed issues such as government incentives in health tourism, the process of obtaining certification, and challenges faced by the sector. The meeting was attended by Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer, TÜRSAB Travel Agency Association managers, the Provincial Health Director, and industry professionals.
Speakers noted that the number of people coming to Turkey for health tourism was increasing every year and emphasized the importance of the Thrace region in health tourism. They also pointed out that with multidisciplinary efforts, it was possible for Edirne to reach its deserved position in health tourism.
Lastly, Governor Yunus Sezer gave a valuable and detailed speech, highlighting that the Thrace region, and especially Edirne, had numerous advantages for health tourism. He emphasized that they were seriously focusing on this issue and had included significant initiatives in their programs.
