Edirne, the second capital of the Ottoman Empire, decided to continue its path with CHP and elected Filiz Gencan as the mayor candidate of this party.

On Sunday, March 31, the residents of Edirne went to the polls to elect the mayor, municipal council members, and muhtars. The voting process for the March 31, 2024 Local Elections was completed.

WHO WERE THE CANDIDATES FOR THE MAYOR OF EDIRNE?

In the local elections held on Sunday, March 31, Filiz Gencan Akın from the CHP, Belgin İba from the AKP, Hamdi Sedefçi from the İYİ Party, Ali Yalçındağ from the YRP, and Mevlüt Aykoç-Aylin Hacaloğlu from the DEM Party were nominated as mayor candidates.

THE ELECTION RESULTS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Ballots Counted: 100%

AKP: 42.49%
CHP: 46.26%
İYİ: 5.44%

Undoubtedly, the sole wish of all Edirne residents is to see that the administration shows the necessary attention to the needs of the people and the city, and implements projects that are suitable for these needs, swiftly.

Among these, issues like improvement of transportation facilities, fly-overs, underpasses and cleanliness of the city are undoubtedly prioritized. Preventing corruption in the municipality is undoubtedly among the most important issues as well. We hope that these wishes will be taken into consideration, and we wish the new administration success.
