Turkey, one of the world’s most important tourism countries, hosts millions of visitors every year due to its natural wealth and cultural heritage. According to statistics for 2023, the cities that receive the most attention include Istanbul, Antalya, Muğla, Aydın, Edirne, Nevşehir, Izmir, Ankara, Mardin, Trabzon, Bursa, Diyarbakır, and Gaziantep.
Istanbul takes the first place on this list with 20.2 million tourists, making it one of the most visited cities in the world. Following Istanbul, Antalya attracts 15.7 million visitors, while Muğla ranks third with 3.4 million tourists.

However, despite this, the city still faces challenges in terms of infrastructure, which, if improved, would help Edirne show its true tourism potential. With targeted promotional efforts and resolving the existing shortcomings, Edirne could significantly improve its tourism performance.
Among the institutions that need to work hardest in this regard are the Directorate of Culture and Tourism in Edirne, the Provincial Administration, and, undoubtedly, the Edirne Municipality.

Local residents and visitors believe that the loss of these important symbols’ former glory is not befitting for the city.

They point out that in other cities, sculptures and fountains are maintained and displayed aesthetically, and the current state of these landmarks in Edirne is an embarrassment.
