According to the housing sales data for February 2025 published by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), nationwide housing sales increased by 20.1% compared to the same month in 2024, reaching 112,818 units with a total of 547 houses were sold in Edirne.
The cities with the highest number of housing sales were Istanbul with 19,347, Ankara with 10,791, and Izmir with 6,899, while the cities with the lowest sales were Ardahan with 24, Tunceli with 70, and Bayburt with 73. Edirne ranked in the middle of the list with 547 housing sales.
Increase in Mortgage Housing Sales Nationwide
In Turkey, mortgage housing sales in February increased by 90.1% compared to the same month last year, reaching 16,778 units. Mortgage sales accounted for 14.9% of total housing sales. In the January-February period, mortgage housing sales increased by 127.3% compared to the same period last year, reaching 33,504 units.
In Edirne, 461 houses were sold through different sales methods excluding mortgage sales. Nationwide, other types of housing sales in February rose by 12.9% compared to the previous year, totaling 96,040 units.
Second-Hand Sales Dominated in Edirne
Nationwide, other housing sales in February increased by 12.9% compared to the same month last year, reaching 96,040 units. These sales accounted for 85.1% of total housing sales. In the January-February period, other housing sales increased by 20.1%, reaching 191,487 units.
A similar trend was observed in Edirne as well. Of the 547 houses sold in February, 148 were first-hand (new) sales, while 399 were second-hand sales.
