EDIRNE VISITORS HOLIDAY

Edirne experienced a surge of visitors during the Ramadan Bayram holiday. The city, known for its history, culture, and gastronomy tourism, saw high traffic at historical and tourist sites, mosques, and especially the city’s famous liver restaurants, with Selimiye Square being a central point of attraction.

During the Ramadan Bayram holiday, the streets and avenues in Edirne were packed, and traffic came to a standstill at times. Visitors formed long lines in front of the city’s renowned liver restaurants to taste the geographically certified dish, “tava ciğeri.” After trying this world-famous delicacy, many also visited Edirne’s historical sites.

Edirne’s famous dishes continued to attract attention during the holiday. Long queues formed as liver chefs raced against time to fulfill orders. Even though the wait was long, no one gave up. Those who managed to order enjoyed their delicious tava ciğeri, while others had to go elsewhere.

Many historical and tourist sites in the city, including the masterpiece of Mimar Sinan, the Selimiye Mosque, became popular destinations for visitors. The historical bazaars, remnants from the Ottoman era, were also bustling with activity.

“There’s a lot of interest” Locals in Edirne mentioned that, as is the case every holiday, the city saw a flood of visitors. They noted that this increased activity brought smiles to the faces of local shopkeepers, and with the pleasant weather, both local and foreign tourists flocked to the city, creating a lively atmosphere.

“We came to make the most of the holiday” Meanwhile, some visitors, particularly from Istanbul, shared their thoughts: “We came to explore Edirne’s historical sites and make the most of the holiday. We wanted to try tava ciğeri, but there’s such a long line, we don’t know when it will end. We’ve been waiting, and hopefully, it will be worth it. The weather is beautiful, the sun is shining—lucky us. We love tava ciğeri, we have no doubts about its taste. Waiting in line is worth it.”
