Edirne, known for its numerous historical landmarks, is now adding a new tourism route with the restoration of mansions in the Kaleiçi district, praised by Evliya Çelebi in his travelogue.
The Edirne Governorship is adding another significant move to its recent tourism initiatives. In collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, as well as the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, restoration works have been initiated in historical mansions under the coordination of the Edirne Governorship.
The mansions, which will contribute to the city’s history, culture, and economy, will be restored in accordance with their original designs. The completion of this project is planned for the end of the next year under normal conditions. After the completion of the work, the historical mansions will begin serving as a new tourism route for Edirne.
According to the plan, some of the mansions will be designated as accommodations for tourists, while some others will contribute to Edirne’s gastronomy. As part of the project, a total of 27 historical structures, including 20 mansions acquired by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, and 7 historical mansions owned by the Edirne Governorship, will be added to Edirne’s assets.
