Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer has shared that the 25 Kasım Stadium will be demolished, adding, “We are waiting for the completion of the Tuncaspor Stadium. Work is ongoing there. After it is finished, the 25 Kasım Stadium will be demolished, and the area will be turned into a park and recreational space. Experts have initiated a project for this purpose.”
During a visit by journalists, the governor also expressed the following: “We plan to demolish unhealthy housing in the Roman neighborhoods and construct two-story prefabric buildings.”
As known, the existing stadium with a capacity of approximately 3,500 was built in the 1950s and is located in the city center. The new stadium planned to be built will have a capacity of approximately 10,000 spectators and will be located near the Olympic Swimming Pool of the Youth and Sports Directorate.
Governor Sezer made these statements during a visit by a group of journalists. Additionally, he added that a green area would be created in place of the 25 Kasım Stadium.
It is worth noting that in 2014, the Ministry of Youth and Sports initiated a project called “23 cities, 25 stadiums.” Edirne was among the cities involved, but it seems to be the only city that has not yet obtained a stadium among these cities.
