As the local (municipal) elections to be held in Turkey in March 2024 approaches, candidates to run for the election in Edirne have already submitted their applications. Apparently, many candidates emerged, completing the formalities and officially entering the race.
One of these candidates is Bülent BACIOĞLU, who has been living in Edirne for many years and has provided significant services in the education sector. In addition to his service in the state cadre, BACIOĞLU has also played crucial roles, often as a president (leader), in various associations and social civil society organizations. He has organized and personally led numerous activities for the benefit of society, standing out as a valuable executive.
The announcement he made when declaring his candidacy is inserted below. It seems that if he achieves his goal, he is indeed determined to work diligently for Edirne and its people, initiating new projects.
The competition appears challenging, but no giving up.
ANNOUNCEMENT BY BACIOĞLU
“Dear Edirne Residents,
Today, I am full of pride. I served as a teacher in schools in Küplü, Havsa, and the center of Edirne for many years, and I retired in the past months.
In parallel with this period, since 2003, I have been actively involved in 10 different civil society organizations and democratic mass organizations in Edirne.
With the Edirne Nature Sports Club Association, of which I am the founding president, we have achieved many milestones for our city. We have engaged in serious struggles for the protection of natural areas and the environment in our region. As a member of the board and president of the Edirne Promotion and Tourism Association, one of the oldest tourism associations in our country and the world, during my tenure, we conducted studies that made our city’s local values visible, internationally. We worked on promoting the potential of our city in terms of education, tourism, and culture. Through our efforts, we received positive feedback and appreciation from dear Edirne residents and people in our region.
Throughout all these endeavors, our responsibility to the residents of the city we live in and our goal to contribute to the nature, cultural heritage, and identity of our city have guided our actions.
Factors such as motivations provided by valuable individuals for me to have a say in the administration of our city for a long while, our past achievements, awareness of the high-level services we can provide based on our energy and accumulated experience, I would like to share with you that I have officially applied as a candidate for the Mayorship of Edirne on behalf of our Republican People’s Party (CHP).
My candidacy is a result of the responsibilities and outcomes of the work I have undertaken, the values I have defended, and the problems and solutions I have envisioned in Edirne.
I extend my respect to all the friends who have motivated me for many years, guiding me on this valuable path because they believe I will do the best, and to all the Edirne friends who showed hope and smiles when I announced my candidacy.
I thank those who will not withhold their support for what comes next and for Edirne!
