Despite many challenges, there are indeed some wonderful developments in our country. For instance, we frequently hear good news in the field of medicine, and one of the most recent updates comes from Trakya University Hospital in Edirne.

Trakya University is already well-known for providing high-quality healthcare services. It is even reported that patients from abroad, particularly from countries like Bulgaria, come to receive treatment here. Recently, the hospital’s scientists achieved another remarkable milestone. The faculty members of the University’s Faculty of Medicine performed a groundbreaking procedure in the treatment of heart valve diseases.

The following statement was released by the hospital regarding this successful development:

“The medical achievement at Trakya University Hospital’s Cardiology Department marks an important step in the treatment of heart valve diseases. A team of specialists, led by Prof. Dr. Teoman Kılıç, Prof. Dr. Servet Altay, Prof. Dr. Yekta Gürlertop, Assoc. Dr. Uğur Özkan, and Assoc. Dr. Muhammet Gürdoğan, successfully performed a transcatheter mitral valve implantation (TMVI) on a patient who had previously undergone a biological mitral valve surgery, making a significant innovation in this field.

The team successfully applied TMVI to a degenerated biological mitral valve, offering patients a minimally invasive treatment option as an alternative to surgery. This innovative approach is particularly notable for patients at high surgical risk, as it provides a faster recovery process and lower complication rates.

We congratulate our faculty members and wish them continued success.”

Also, we as edirneturkey.com wholeheartedly congratulate everyone involved in this highly successful work and their contributions to advancing medical science.
