
Many experts and opinion leaders emphasize that Edirne which is in North Western of the country has always been the locomotive of tourism in Turkey.
Same experts also note the following in regards; “Even in the most challenging times, Edirne’s uniqueness has triggered other provinces and regions. Thus, it has made a significant contribution to the country’s economy. With 1,585 registered historical monuments, Edirne holds the distinction of being the second city in Europe with the highest number of historical monuments per square meter after Florence, Italy.”
They also note that Edirne, one of Turkey’s most important cultural tourist attractions, has a significant competitive advantage by attracting day visitors from Istanbul, surrounding provinces, Greece, and Bulgaria.
