Efod (Photography Association) of Edirne organized a photography exhibition at Edirne Chamber of Commerce building on May 10th, 2024. The artwork exhibited was prepared by the Thrace Creative Photography Center from Greece.
Generally speaking EFOD did quite a good organization and the most successful show was displayed by the ladies group performing Greek folk dances. The chairperson of EFOD certainly deserves a big “thank you” for having initiated such efforts to contribute to improvement of relations between peoples of 2 neighboring countries, in the first place.

The presentation made by the Greek Association on the other hand, was almost perfect. In fact, they explained almost everything having to do with said project in a film prepared very professionally. The context and explanations were very clear and informative. The deserved a big thank you too (and more).

The Greek Photography Association, namely Thrace Creative Photography Center operates as a cultural activity center in Northern Greece and especially in Alexandroupoli . The association has been involved in teaching artistic works for the last 17 years with the aim of encouraging, developing and growing the art of photography. In this context, in September 2017, the members of the Center decided to photograph the Rhodopi Mountains under the title of the Rhodopi project.

The photographic agenda of the Rhodope project was wide and the only limitation was the geographical location of the shooting which was within the borders of the Rhodope mountain range. This mountain range, is both in Greece and Bulgaria. One can see castles, churches, mosques, mansions, huts, drystones, bridges, a magical mountain range, landscapes of unique natural beauty, with unexpected flora and fauna, here. However, the most beautiful element is the human element, to include smiles, treats, hospitality of people with different cultures, traditions, religions and customs. This is a place where different population groups live together. Under the supervision of Panos Kokkinias, 15 photographers who are members of the Trakya Center for Creative Photography traveled hundreds of kilometers across Greece and Bulgaria, defying the weather conditions on holidays and weekends at every opportunity, capturing said mountain range with a modern eye and created a photo book in which they exhibit their work.
While browsing through this book, said photographers invite you to allow yourself to notice the photographs that are works of art, one by one, and travel among these photographs for a while to escape from daily life.

All in all, “lovers of photograph art” in Edirne (in particular) enjoyed quite an interesting and precious time during the presentation and also viewing the photos displayed at the exhibition thereafter.

Thus both Turkish (EFOD) and the Greek associations and their people responsible for the event are to appreciate. We hope we do not have to wait long before we experience such successful art events again.
