The film “Sadık Ahmet,” which portrays the life of Dr. Sadık Ahmet, a prominent figure from Gümülcine, was produced in collaboration with TRT and premiered at the Atatürk Cultural Center. The gala event was hosted by TRT General Manager Mehmet Zahid Sobacı. Among the attendees were Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer, Kırklareli Governor Birol Ekici, and close relatives of Sadık Ahmet.
Other notable attendees included Deputy Minister of Family and Social Services Yavuz Selim Kıran, Dr. Sadık Ahmet’s wife Işık Sadıkahmet, son Levent Sadıkahmet, and daughter Funda Sadıkahmet. Additionally, numerous guests from the film crew and the cultural and arts community added color to the evening.
TRT’s top official stated that with this film they had taken another step towards their goal which was “to highlight societal values and significant narratives.”

“The latest addition to our mission-driven projects is the Sadık Ahmet film. Because Sadık Ahmet is a fighter who devoted his life to bringing the Western Thrace issue to the world’s attention. Particularly during a time when the Western Thrace Turks were being assimilated, he took on the responsibility of defending their right to live as human beings. For this purpose, he was tried and sentenced to imprisonment. But he remained faithful to his people, his cause, and his beliefs until his last breath.

Director Hakan Yonat expressed his great honor in being part of the film, saying, “We worked with an extraordinary cast, which provided us with additional motivation. The support provided by our producers was truly impressive.” Yonat mentioned that they filmed in Edirne and expressed appreciation for the interest and assistance of the Edirne community. He added, “This was a challenging project because we aimed to portray an important figure from our recent history on the big screen. We made great efforts to accurately convey his words, and the result is a powerful film.”
Starring Turgay Aydın, Nur Fettahoğlu, Erkan Can, Erdal Beşikçioğlu, Uğur Yücel, and İlker Aksum, the film will be released on February 2nd.
