There was a decrease in the bookings of Bulgarian and Greek tourists who want to enter 2024 in Edirne just a few days before the beginning of the year compared to last year in entertainment venues this year. While the tradesmen from Edirne stated that the reason for this was the hikes in meat and alcoholic beverages, “Inflation has also affected them now,” he said.
In Edirne, Bulgarian and Greek tourists, who meet all their needs from needle to thread due to the exchange rate difference in the city, have already started booking places at entertainment venues to spend New Year’s eve here.
Days before the new year, bookings fell compared to last year. The operators stated that the reason for the decrease was due to increases in meat and alcoholic beverages in particular.
‘THE REASON FOR THE DECLINES IS ECONOMIC’
A restaurant operator from Edirne, stated that only a Bulgarian group of 30 people had made reservations at the workplace at the moment, saying as follows:
“Although the capacity of our store is 250 people at the moment, we have an occupancy of 100 people. As for the number of people coming from Bulgaria, we also have 8 tables, that is, a group of 30-35 people. There’s still about a week to go. Reservations will continue during this time as well.
Compared to last year, there are decreases. The reasons for the declines are economic. Meat and alcohol prices have greatly affected this situation. Even within the scope of our ‘Bring your own drink’ concept, some of our Bulgarian customers, who find the price expensive, bring their own drinks. But we can say that there is an obvious decrease compared to last year.”
